TxAuthors continues to help Texas Authors stay one step ahead of the curve, but it’s still not enough for publishers, bookstores and even agents to take you seriously. We hope to change that with our new program starting this summer.

Authors Marketing Certification TM (AMC) is a new continuing education certification that helps the author keep current on trends, programs, etc., that relate to marketing for authors. Each author who paid for a ‘full event ticket’ is automatically enrolled in this program. Complete no less than 10 sessions (hours) during the weekend, and you will become certified for one year as an AMC. All sessions are taught by leaders in their field.

How does the AMC add value to YOU?

  • Provides tools to learn how to market and sell yourself better than the average author.

  • You are given the opportunity to say, “I spent the time to learn how to better market myself!” while other authors only think about doing it. And most people respect someone who has professional initials after their name.

  • Gives you an edge over another author when it comes to publishers, agents and bookstores. 9 out of 10 publishers in our survey said, they would give a publishing contract to someone with an AMC certification before they would an author that did not.

  • Gives you additional exposure on the AME website listed as an AMC. You will keep up to date on new programs and presentations to keep your certification current and advanced.

  • Access to certain sessions for refresher courses.

But, with all the things you learn, it only has value if you use it!

Authors Marketing Certification is currently available to Texas Authors but will become available soon to any author wishing to learn more about marketing their books. First-year members will receive special bonuses over the next two years, including major discounts on sessions scheduled for the future.


Indie Beacon not only provides great tips and tools to help anyone in the artistic field navigate through the marketing maze, but we also provide a radio show & podcast that spotlights its members and businesses that support authors.

Indie Beacon has its roots with DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) Texas Radio and with KWVH 94.1 FM Wimberley Valley Radio where we began to produce an hour of entertainment and education by introducing the listener to Texas authors and their books. We had great success with these shows, so we broke the show into a half-hour segment and added it to SoundCloud, iTunes, Stitcher and other streaming services.

The show was originally co-hosted by award-winning authors B Alan Bourgeois, Allan C Kimball, and Arlene Gale. When the change to Indie Beacon Radio happened, award-winning authors Roxanne Burkey, Caroline DeChavigny, and Lorri Allen, joined us. Later, authors Denise Bryson, Josalyn Holiday and award-winning author Charlotte Canion joined the team. Each host has a unique style that keeps listeners informed and entertained.

If you would like to order a commercial for you and your book, the commercials run for a total of three times: once a week, for three consecutive weeks. You may order additional commercial times if you would like more air play. Remember, that once the commercial airs, it remains on the show and in the system for as long as Indie Beacon exists. Therefore, while you may not have an immediate impact from your commercial, you may over time have a larger impact from people hearing your commercial over a period of years. This makes a commercial one of the most cost effective forms of advertising you can create and purchase. The cost is $50.

We ask for a finished 30 sec commercial in an audio format of MP4. If you do not have a finished commercial, you are welcome to do one of two things. One, hire a voice over person (you may find one in this directory) to read your commercial at an additional cost you pay for. Or you may submit the commercial to us for the host to read live on air. Indie Beacon Radio airs every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7 PM. It is a LIVE internet show which is broadcast on Facebook Live, YouTube and IGTV, along with the audio version sent to iHeart Radio, Spreaker and Soundcloud as well as all other formats. Full Membership for Authorpreneurs

Thank you for considering membership in the Authors Marketing International, LLC which has a rich history starting in 2011 when B Alan Bourgeois founded Texas Association of Authors (TxAuthors), a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and marketing Texas Authors and their books. In 2018 Indie Beacon was added to the group to help authors outside of Texas in receiving the same great benefits that TxAuthors offered. In 2019, both organizations were merged to create the Authors Marketing International (AMI) to illustrate and implement the organization’s main focus more effectively, which is to help authors from all aspects of publishing to understand and learn how to market and sell themselves and their books.

To achieve this, AMI provides a wide range of benefits. However, if the member-author does not use the benefits, they can expect to see no improvements in their book sales. Over the years, through our surveys, we have learned that authors who use at least 10% of the benefits can and will see an increase of at least 10% in book sales, while authors who use up to 75% of the benefits have seen on average an increase of 145% in book sales.

Below is everything that our regular membership includes. Notices of new and exciting events that we create to help you market and sell your books are shared with the membership as they become available.

    • Listing and ability to sell your book(s) on our bookstore website http://B4R.Store Participation in the DEAR Texas/DEAR Indie events – Book Festivals, Library Conferences, etc.
    • Indie Beacon Show Interview - No Less the two times in a calendar year. The show is recorded and then distributed as an audio podcast on most systems, including iHeart Radio. Video recordings are on our YouTube channel.
    • Access to the Members Only section of this website which contains articles, links, and connections to a variety of items and services to help you grow in marketing and selling your books.
    • Major discounts with our sponsors and other related industry businesses and organizations to help you save money.
    • Access to our YouTube channel to promote interviews, readings, etc., of you and your books Newsletters with the latest information with informative articles to help you succeed Tweets and postings on our social media system to over 40,000 followers and growing.
    • A copy of the Authors Revolution Workbook, a best seller by our founder, B Alan Bourgeois that has lots of tips and tools to help authors succeed.

All of the above services are included in your membership. Individually, you could spend up to $2,500 per year or more. The cost of these services is only $50 for an annual membership.

Termination of Membership:

1 - Termination of membership may be done at any time at the discretion of the Director as they feel is necessary due to the member violating rules and policies or endangering the profitability of the organization. At the time of termination of membership, the Director will supply a letter to the terminated member as to the reason for termination.

2 – Upon termination of membership, or failure to renew membership, which will be considered as termination of membership, the member has 30 days to request the return of any books in our system, that were supplied by the author. On the 31st day following termination of membership, the books, if any, will be donated to the Texas Authors Institute of History for their collection and use as they determine. Additionally, the author has 30 days from termination to renew their membership, otherwise, the membership is fully terminated.
